Residing in the Asia Pacific region since 1988, Stephen has been covering developments in the chemical and plastics industries in the region since 1991. He operated out of Tokyo and subsequently Singapore while working as an editor for the McGraw-Hill trade publications “Chemical Engineering and Modern Plastics.” Stephen also wrote extensively for “Chemical Week” prior to beginning his career as a consultant in 2000. Since 2003, Stephen has represented Townsend Solutions in the Asia Pacific region and has played an integral part in numerous strategic projects and studies.

Stephen is a regular contributor to Townsend’s annual market reports covering polyolefin supply, demand & forecasts and provides keen insights for research and strategic activities, economic and feasibility reports, and industry/market analyses.

Stephen holds a Bachelor degree in Chemistry from the University of Auckland (New Zealand) and a Master degree in Chemistry from the University of Tokyo (Japan). Stephen is a New Zealand citizen who is bilingual in English and Japanese.

Ahmed Khalfan Al Muhairi is the Vice President Marketing Centre for New Business Development at Borouge since May 2014. He was based in Singapore for three years before moving to Abu Dhabi. Through his position, Al Muhairi is responsible for the Company’s new business development strategies, evaluating its sales and growth opportunities, and leading implementation of new business marketing plan. He also oversees the set-up of new operating units and development of positive liaison with external industry organisations.

Al Muhairi joined Borouge in 2006 as an Application Marketing Manager, then as an Innovation Centre Project Manager in 2008 and as a Regional Business Development Manager for Middle East and East Africa in 2010.

Prior to joining Borouge, Al Muhairi worked for the General Holding Corporation as a Chemical Engineer in 2001. From 2002 to 2004 he took up a position of Quality Control Engineer at Emirates Steel where he was promoted to Marketing Manager till 2006.

Al Muhairi holds two Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry from Lewis & Clark College in Portland-Oregon, USA, in 1998, and in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in Saint Louis-Missouri, USA, in 2000. In 2005, he obtained a Master’s degree in Business & Administration from the United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain and is pursuing PhD in Business in the same school. Al Muhairi took executives programmes in Marketing Strategy and Leadership in INSEAD. Al Muhairi is a UAE national.

Prasit Piriyaparkarn has been working at Kuraray for over 10 years in sales and new business development for EVAL EVOH resin and KURARISTER film mainly for high barrier packaging for foods, cosmetic and agriculture industry in Thailand. He also has experience in developing new businesses for EVAL EVOH packaging in Malaysia and Vietnam. In developing the new market for barrier packaging, he has created connections along the whole supply chain between end users, machine manufactures, and converters. Due to sustainable packaging trends, he sees opportunities in collaborating with “PLANTIC”, for high gas barrier bio-plastic packaging. The new product will be essential in the future of food packaging in reducing and eliminating food wastage and plastic waste.

Prasit graduated with the Bachelor of Economics from Bangkok University and Master of Commerce in Business from Macquarie University, Australia. He has experience in other fields in banking and exporting food products.

With a good EVAL’s and PLANTIC’s network and long-time experiences in food packaging, he is now a consultant for food manufacturers to select the right packaging and structures in extending their food shelf life with global sustainable trend.
