The Philippine Plastics Industry Association, Inc. is a non-profit organization who stands as the voice of local downstream plastics industry. It was formed on January 18, 1970 with the aim of promoting the cooperation and understanding amongst plastic product manufacturers in the country. Today, PPIA has 161 members, who are engaged in molding, extrusion, weaving, lamination, and recycling. Forty one of them are advisers who supply raw material, technology and machinery that are imperative for industry’s business operations. The Association carries a reputation for upholding the industry’s interest in key polices and legislations, particularly on customs and tariff rules, environmental laws and regulations, power and energy issues, labor concerns, and product standards among others. The association is actively involved in addressing environmental issues and pursuing scientific and fact-based policies on issues affecting the health of the industry, its products, and the environment. To ensure the competitiveness of the plastics industry, PPIA continues to uphold the principle of a fair and equal level playing field by disputing any forms of tariff distortion in the industry.

Founded in February 26, 1993 as a club of entrepreneurs in FRP, industry, under the facilitation and collaboration of Department of industrial Promotion and Division of Industrial Service. After a while, the club acquired more members until March 20, 1995 when the club proposed the letter to “Office of National Culture Commission” and registered as the Association under the name “Thai Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic Industry Association, which later on changed to “Thai Composites Association” with the goal to develop and create competitive advantages of Thai composite industry in global arena.

The Thai-German Institute is a joint initiative of the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Federal Republic of German, the aim was to be an effective training center for transferring advanced manufacturing technology to Thai industry. It was set up as an autonomous body outside the formal education system with its operation under the supervision of the Foundation for Industrial Development and a broad oversight by the Ministry of Industry.
